TOM'S BIG BLUES SOLO CHALLENGE

Turbo Charge Your Soloing Skills With Just One Short Lesson A Day!

Week 3 / Day 4: Solo Walkthrough (Part 2)

Welcome to week 3, day 4 of Tom’s Big Blues Solo Challenge!

Today, we’ll conclude breaking down our solo using the 6 licks we’ve learned so far in the challenge.

YOUR TASK FOR TODAY:

Step 1: Revisit pentatonic patterns 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 from last week and spend 10 minutes running through each shape to keep them fresh in your mind.

Step 2: Revisit the licks from earlier this week, and run through them a few times to keep them fresh in your mind.

Step 3: Watch today’s video, then fire up the backing track (below the video), and attempt to blend some of the licks together. Be sure to add in your own ‘filler’ ideas with the pentatonic scale as shown in the video.

After that, you’re all done!

Simply, keep experimenting with the licks, and throwing in your own ideas from the pentatonic scale, and you’ll be making some great sounds in no time!

To finish up the challenge, tomorrow, we’ll be going through the rhythm part of the backing track, to help give you a greater understanding of what’s happening underneath the solo.
