TOM'S BIG BLUES SOLO CHALLENGE

Turbo Charge Your Soloing Skills With Just One Short Lesson A Day!

Week 3 / Day 2: Solo Playthrough

Welcome to week 3, day 3 of Tom’s Big Blues Solo Challenge!

Today, is simple video giving you an example of the kind of solo you could create using the 6 licks we’ve learned so far.

This one isn’t really a lesson in the traditional sense – it’s something I want you to watch and pay attention to.

You’ll notice we clearly label each of the licks featured throughout the video, so I want you to:

1. Take note of where and when those licks happen.

2. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I want you to take note of what happens…

BETWEEN THE LICKS.

THAT is where the magic of improvisation happens. .

YOUR TASK FOR TODAY:

Step 1: Revisit pentatonic patterns 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 from last week and spend 10 minutes running through each shape to keep them fresh in your mind.

Step 2: Revisit the 6 licks we’ve learned, and run through them a few times to keep them fresh in your mind.

Step 3: Watch today’s video, and observe how the licks a blended together in the solo.

After that, you’re done for the day!

Tomorrow, we’ll be breaking down the solo, step by step, and getting super creative.
